PUNE, JUNE 1: Nearly seven wadis 8211; hamlets 8211; are in a limbo as they are neither independent nor were they merged along with the 38 fringe villages which were included within the Pune Municipal Corporation PMC limits two years ago.
The PMC has consistently been demanding their merger within the city limits, as a population of 1,000-1,200 each in the seven wadis on the outskirts of the fringe villages enjoy the facilities provided by the civic body.
8220;However we cannot impose taxes or even make budgetary provisions for the lot as they do not fall under the PMC,8221; lamented Additional Municipal Commissioner Deepak Kapoor who raised the issue at the Municipal Commissioner8217;s conference in Mumbai on Thursday.
The hamlets are actually attached to the merged villages, however remain stranded as no man8217;s property. These include Yeolewadi 8211; attached to Kondhwa, Menglewadi 8211; attached to Katraj, Jambulwadi 8211; attached to Ambegaon, Wadachiwadi 8211; attached to Undri, Gujjar Nimbalwadi, Kolewadi attachedto Ambegaon and Bhilarewadi attached to Katraj.
Time and again the PMC had demanded their inclusion within corporation limits 8211; to no avail, said Kapoor. However, the state government assured that it would look into the matter and expedite the issue, he added.
