As usual my friend and I were sitting in the college canteen. A classmate and his girlfriend happened to pass by.8220;What a lucky guy,8221; I remarked, 8220;He neither has smart looks, nor a good personality, nor a car these are the things girls are supposed to look for, they say but still he has a beautiful girlfriend. Apna to luck hi kharab hai,8221; putting the entire blame on my fate.
8220;Nahi yaar,8221; my friend contradicted as usual, 8220;He has a good physique. Nowadays girls do not like the chocolate looks of Aamir Khan. They prefer Sunil Shetty8217;s muscles. Unfortunately most of us lack a proper physique,8221; he said, giving a pitiful glance at my body.
8220;Is this so,8221; I was thinking about it for the whole day.At home, I stood for an hour in front of the mirror, carefully observing myself.
Height: 58217;88221;, Weight: 55 kg, not all that bad. But a little exercise might improve my appearance 8211; this was my final conclusion. It was at this stage that I made an important rather unfortunate decision to join a gymnasium.I was a busy man that day. I got myself enrolled in the best known gym. Then I called up all my friends and proudly announced my decision. One of them encouraged me, few of them laughed and most of them were not bothered. Jealous, I thought and consoled myself.
Since I had to wake up early the next morning you should understand, it is a difficult job for me, I went early to bed that night at about half past twelve.
Almost immediately, I was riding the dream horse, high among the clouds. I was walking briskly down the street to Ash8217;s bungalow my girlfriend Aishwarya Rai, you know. My strong muscular arms were the source of envy of all the people passing by. Girls held their breath, and had their hearts crushed at my first glimpse it might be possible that Cupid was following me with his bow and arrow.
I pretended not to be bothered. Ash welcomed me with a beautiful smile. 8220;You look great today,8221; she said, 8220;Joined a gym or something?8221;Gym! Am I forgetting something ? Startled, I woke up, just to find the clock striking four. For the next hour, I had my eyes on the hands of the watch, just to ensure that I should not be late on my first day at the gym.At last, at five, I was out of bed, and at half past five I was at the gym, a good half hour before time. The instructor was to arrive at six, and I waited patiently for him.
The instructor did come, but half an hour late IST you know. 8220;On time? Good,8221; he said, showing his teeth I understood later that it was a smile. For the next hour, he was after my life. He made me do all sorts of things on floor as well as on equipments. But the only things which fascinated me were the dumbbells. I picked up the heaviest pair and raised them the way I had seen in television.
8220;Crnnnk.8221; I had twisted my wrists. I gave a loud scream. Next moment I had 10 people around me with their heartfelt sympathies. 8220;These are not for you, child,8221; he said, 8220;I think you should better go home.8221;I returned home a defeated soldier 8211; who had lost his battle and was badly wounded. Every part of my body was paining, every muscle was aching. My painful wrist gave me a sleepless night.
Even today I curse the moment when I decided to join a gym.My brother was trying to wake me up the next morning, 8220;Get up, otherwise you will be late for the gym,8221; he said. 8220;No, I am not going. I don8217;t want a girlfriend. I am happy as I am,8221; came my reply subconsciously.8220;Hey, I am not selling them. Come on, get up and get going.8221; Lazily, I crept out of bed. The next minute I was lying comfortably on the sofa. I was on my way to another date with Ash!
