MUMBAI, DEC 5: The Bombay Catholic Sabha has condemned the decision of the Gujarat government to cut grants to Christian schools in the State that joined other members of the community in marking National Protest Day, against attacks on the clergy.
“It is akin to rubbing salt in the wounds of the beleagured Christian community”, said a press release of the Sabha. The Sabha has called for the resignation of the Chief Minister or revoking of the order claiming that the government had “lost its credibility as a custodian of the lives and properties of all people in Gujarat”. The Sabha believes with this move, the Chief Minister has confirmed that his government “covertly supports the demonic dance of the Sangh Parivar in Gujarat”. The State has had around 40 cases of violence against minorities over the last few months.
