SURAT, July 20: Two groups of people, residing at Howrahnagar area of Randerand armed with stones, lathis, iron rods and knuckle dusters, clashed witheach other at around midnight on Monday, the police said. While six peoplewere admitted to the New Civil Hospital with injuries, personal rivalry isstated to be the reason behind the brawl. Cross complaints have beenregistered by the police and investigations have begun.
According to a complaint registered in the police station by Hardik AtulMehta, 12 people attacked him and others late on Monday night. Mehta namedone Shastry and Amar Singh both watchmen of a building in the area alongwith Rajni, Harshad and eight others as accused.
A cross complaint registered by Jagdishchandra Ratilal Lapsiwala said thatAtul Mehta, Hardik Mehta, Mukesh, Farid, and 35 other people attacked himand the rest with weapons. They fisted, kicked and stoned them due to whichtwo of his friends fell unconscious, he alleged.
