Around 11 lakh customers submitted their bills this year in the “Je bill mange tanu naseb jaage” scheme under the Gujarat Government’s ‘Customer encouragement prize scheme-2007.’

In the Gandhinagar zonal round, 111 customers were selected for a lucky draw from among the 42,872 customers who submitted their bills for the same. Tushar Kanani, a resident of Gandhinagar, won the first prize, a Mauti 800 car. The bills drawn between July 1, 2007 and February 28 were taken into consideration for the lucky draw.

State Finance Minister Saurabh Patel said during the prize distribution function: “In order to encourage the citizens to ask for bills while making any kind of purchase, the state government has introduced the ‘Customer encouragement prize scheme-2007’ and ‘Je bill mange tanu naseb jaage’ scheme. We will continue with such initiatives on a regular basis so that the theft of taxes can be controlled.”

He added: “As of now, this scheme is underway in Gandhinagar, Mehsana, Patan, Sabarkantha and Banaskantha districts. It will soon be introduced in other districts.”
