CHENNAI AUG 23: Government emissary and Nakkeeran editor R R Gopal was holding discussions with sandalwood brigand Veerappan in the forests today to secure the release of actor Rajkumar.
According to
associate editor A Kamaraj, a person who accompanied Gopal came out of the forest and informed him about the meeting with Veerappan.
Gopal left for the forests for the second time after the two State Governments responded to the demands of Veerappan.
In the meantime, the State Government is considering the legal modalities involved in the release of five Tamil extremists.
The extremists whose release Veerappan demanded insisted that they would not seek bail. Instead, they said the cases against them should be withdrawn unconditionally.
The two sons of Rajkumar came to the city on Monday.
