
The meeting of the group of ministers GoM on foreign direct investment FDI, slated for Friday to consider revision in foreign investment limits in sectors such as aviation, insurance and telecom, has been deferred. A finance ministry spokesperson said the meeting has been deferred as four of the six ministers of the group were on tour.
External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha is now in Moscow, while Commerce Minister Arun Jaitley is electioneering in Himachal Pradesh, Power Minister Anant Geethe is in Talcher and the Small Scale Industry Minister C. P. Thakur is in Patna. Besides, FM Jaswant Singh, who heads the GoM on FDI, the sixth minister in the group is Disinvestment Minister Arun Shourie. While the spokesperson said that no date has been fixed for the meeting, sources pointed out that GoM would be held early next week.
