Godrej staff stir on

SAS NAGAR, Oct 31: For the third consecutive day, the Godrej GE Employees8217; Union members demonstrated outside the factory premises here to protest the dismissal and suspension of employees. They alleged the management was not allowing them to enter the premises.

Union president Harish Sharma alleged the management tampered with the machines, so they could level a charge against the employees and get an excuse to dismiss them. He further added that the management was keeping contract labour in their place and they were being made to sign a letter to work according to the Industrial Employment Act, 1946.

Meeting held
A nukad meeting was organised by the Ghar Bachao Committee, Naya Goan, in Janata colony to press the demand of constituting nagar panchayat for Naya Goan, Janta colony, Kansal, Chhotti and Karora areas.

Committee announced that a mass rally will be held near Punjab Chief Minister8217;s residence on November 28, dharnas in Sector 17 and near the Sector 17, 16, 10 and 9 roundabout and a chain hunger strike at the same venue for which the dates will be announced later on.

He said the committee had appealed to the state government in this regard, but nothing has been done so far.
