LONDON: Ten-man Premiership leaders Manchester United fell 0-3 at Newcastle on Saturday night to give encouragement to the chasing pack including second-placed Leeds, who beat Tottenham 1-0, Arsenal and Liverpool. A superb 26th minute strike by Duncan Ferguson, Roy Keane sent off for his second yellow card after arguing with the referee, a disallowed lobbed goal for Andy Cole plus two scores from Alan Shearer in the 76th and 86th minutes were the highlights of the St James Park clash. United lead by three points from Leeds and by nine from Arsenal and Liverpool.

Injured Ponting out of NZ one-dayers
SYDNEY: Ricky Ponting has been ruled out of Australia8217;s forthcoming One-day Internationals in New Zealand because of an ankle injury and could be doubtful for the Test matches that follow. Ponting injured his right ankle when he slammed into the boundary fence while fielding. His place has been taken by Queensland opener Matthew Hayden.
