Rios to marry 17-year-old girlfriend
SANTIAGO: Chile’s Marcelo Rios, former World No 1 of men’s tennis, will marry 17-year-old Costa Rican girlfriend Giuliana Sotelo in December, according to a television report here. Rios, 25, said on Tuesday that the wedding would take place on the day after Christmas. Rios, now ranked 32 on the ATP Tour, has practiced at Miami’s Nick Bolletieri Tennis Academy, where Sotelo had been a student since the age of 13.

Wrestlers banned
ANKARA: Two Turkish wrestlers have been banned from the National team for up to two years for offences committed during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, The Milliyet newspaper reported. Harun Dogan, a favourite for a medal before the Games, was banned from the National team for two years by the Sports Penalty Board, while Yuksel Sanli was given a one-year ban for refusing to wear the crescent and star.

Raducan to sue
BUCHAREST: Andreea Raducan, the Romanian gymnast stripped of a gold medal in Sydney for taking a banned substance, said she would sue the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to clear her name. “I have decided to start legal proceedings because I’m innocent,” Raducan said.
