Buchanan may replace Marsh

SYDNEY: Queenslander John Buchanan has emerged as the frontrunner for the Australian cricket team coaching position following the surprise resignation of Geoff Marsh.

Marsh will quit at the end of current Sri Lankan tour on October 4, forcing the Australian Cricket Board to find an interim substitute for the three-week tour of Zimbabwe from October 7.

Egypt shine

AMMAN: After its swimmers ended with a record haul of 19 golds, Egypt8217;s taekwando team resumed the medal chase, winning four of the six golds in the Arab Games. But the competitions were marred by questionable decisions and calls in more than one event and organisers dismissed two taekwando referees after several complaints by players.
