RIO DE JANEIRO:
Living legend Pele has accused world governing football body Fifa boss and fellow-Brazilian Joao Havelange of using illegal means in his support of presidential candidate Joseph Blatter.

Pele yesterday told the Lance sports daily that Havelange8217;s support included 8220;bribes8221; and 8220;dirty tricks.8221; 8220;This presidential campaign must make all those who love football sad,8221; said Pele, who supports Blatter8217;s opponent Lennart Johansson of Sweden. 8220;I favour change and hope that he Johansson wins, Pele said.

Violence induces suspension of soccer
BUENOS AIRES:
A judge has indefinitely suspended play in Argentina8217;s professional soccer leagues, reacting to fan violence surrounding weekend games, including two shootings.

Civil judge Victor Perrota said yesterday the decision will stand until security conditions are improved.
