Panchkula, March 18: The much awaited Navratra Mela was inaugurated by the Haryana Governor, Mahavir Prasad early today. A Pooja Archana was organised at the inaugural function in the newly constructed building of Pooja Bhavan. The Governor paid his obeisance to Shri Mata Mansa Devi in the temple. He also performed Yajna in the newly constructed Yajshala of the Shrine complex.

While going round the temple complex, Prasad complimented the State Government for developing the Shrine into a beautiful pilgrimage. Talking to Board authorities, the Governor suggested that a women8217;s college should be set up in the name of Shri Mata Mansa Devi Shrine in the region. He also expressed desire to start a Sanskrit Vidyalaya in the name of the shrine. He lauded elaborate arrangements made by the district administration and the Shrine Board for facilities of accomodation, security and public health to the devotees during the Mela.

Saroj Siwatch, Deputy Commisioner,Panchkula, and Chief Administrator of the Shrine Board informed the Governor that Rs.5.30 crore will be spent on the various projects in the pipeline. The Governor also planted a sapling of Molsari tree in the complex and urged people to plant more trees to contribute towards a healthy environment. Shri Mata Mansa Devi temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peeths mentioned in the Tantra Choodamani8217;. The temple which is situated in the Shivalik foothills in village Bilaspur,Tehsil and district Panchkula was constructed by Maharaja Gopal Singh of Manimajra during 1811-1815.

It is one of the most important temples in Haryana and keeping in view it8217;s importance and wishes of devotees, Haryana government made an enactmentHaryana Act No.14 of 1991 called the Shri Mata Mansa Devi Shrine Act, 1991 and took over the control of this temple to provide better management, administration and governance of the shrine and its endowments including the lands and buildings attached to the shrine. Prominant persons present on the occasion were Public Relations Minister Adarshan Saini; Housing Minister Satya Narayan Lather; Finance Commisioner, local government, M.K . Miglani.
