After flitting from one TV show to another, city8217;s Surveen Chawla has taken the big leap into Bollywood

It8217;s heartening to hear her admit at first go, 8220;I am 8216;wholly and soully8217; from Chandigarh8221; the moment we make the introductions over the phone. It8217;s been a while since Surveen Chawla made that visit back home. 8220;Yes, and I am really looking forward to making it in time for Diwali,8221; mentioned the actor who is currently 8220;in step8221; with Indian cricketer Sreesanth on the dance reality show 8216;Ek Khiladi, Ek Haseena8217;. For someone who stepped into Mumbai with absolutely no references to boast, our girl from GCG-11 has come a long way. 8220;Television happened by default. In fact I wasn8217;t making a conscious attempt at a career in acting,8221; reminisces Chawla who walked into a Balaji audition and never looked back. After character roles in shows like 8216;Kasauti Zindagi Kay8217; and 8216;Kahin To Hoga8217;, the petite actor made her presence felt with Sony8217;s primetime show 8216;Kajjal8217; where she played the lead role. And then just as her surprise entry, Surveen made a quick exit from tellydom. 8220;Many people thought I was missing in action,8221; laughs Chawla. But all that for a reason. 8220;The offers from Bollywood had begun and I decided to take them up,8221; she admits. But not before she signed up for the dance reality show on Colors.

8220;I had been approached for a reality show earlier on but I didn8217;t want to do just anything. The concept of 8216;Ek Khiladi, Ek Haseena8217; excited me and you know how cricket is a religion in this country,8221; tells Surveen whose pairing with Sreesanth seems perfectly in step. 8220;We share a good chemistry on the floor and I think he can dance really well,8221; is all Chawla is saying at the moment. As for the competition, Surveen is quick to say there8217;s none now in the semi-finals! 8220;I felt Vinod Kambli and Shama Sikander, who are unfortunately out, were really good,8221; she says adding, 8220;Not that the others are not but they could have given tough competition.8221; With the finals not too far, Surveen8217;s got her fingers crossed. And then what? 8220;There is a Kannada and Telegu film in the pipeline. I have also signed a three-film deal with Percept Picture Company. The first is what we are shooting for currently. It8217;s being directed by Chandrakant Kulkarni and I am paired opposite Ranvir Shorey,8221; lists out Surveen who has said her goodbyes to television, for now.
