MUMBAI, OCT 3: Irked over her mother’s refusal to let her cut her hair short, a teenaged girl committed suicide by hanging at Mulund, in north-east Mumbai.

Police today said Archana Rajguru (13), an eighth standard student, had expressed a desire to cut her hair very short. However, her mother refused permission and admonished her for the same.

Distraught over the incident, the girl hanged herself with a lungi when she was alone at home on Sunday evening, police said. The body was discovered by Archana’s mother when she returned home from her neighbour’s house.

Police, however, did not recover any suicide note, as the house was plunged in darkness at the time of the incident following a cut in the electric supply to the area.
