BANGALORE, JANUARY 18: Top seed Alsam Qureshi of Pakistan lost in the first round of the Indian ITF Futures Tennis circuit Wearhouse-Century Club $ 10,000 tennis tournament.

Qureshi, playing his first match on the tour after missing the Hyderabad leg due to visa problems, went down to qualifier Markus Kanellos (Austria) 4-6, 3-6. Qureshi is flying back to Pakistan next week for the Davis Cup tie.Mustafa Ghouse, the lone Indian qualifier, defeated sixth seed Nir Welgreen (Israel) 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. But second seed Prahlad Srinath went down to unseeded Sander Groen of (Netherlands) 3-6, 4-6.

Russian Denis Golovanov sent third seed Ladislay Svarc (Slovakia) out 6-4, 6-3 while eighth seed Briton Justin Layne lost to qualifier Anton Kokurin (Uzbekistan) 7-5, 6-4.

Algerian-French artist Hanan Benammar's linocut prints were vandalised by two artists at an international exhibition in Kochi. The exhibition, curated by Anushka Rajendran and Damian Christinger, was organised by the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi and opened on October 18.
