
NEW DELHI, February 17: The Central Pollution Control Board CPCB has finalised the emission standards for petrol and kerosene run gensets, both the portable and the heavier ones and noise standards for heavy diesel generator sets of 5 KVA and more.
Disclosing this in an affidavit filed before the Delhi High Court today, the CPCB Member Secretary B. Sengupta said the expert committee had on January 28 finalised the emission standards for petrol and kerosene-run gensets after considering the manufacturers8217; views.
The division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Devinder Gupta and Justice K.S. Gupta also asked the Delhi Police and MCD to reply by April 23 to the petitioners8217; contention that portable gensets were still being put on the pavements by the shopkeepers, despite a court order against the same.
The noise standards for portable gensets of less than 2.5 KVA had not yet been finalised since the project which the CPCB has taken up with the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore for development of an 8220;acoustic hood8221; was likely to take another three months.
