NEW DELHI, April 20: Surender Gautam8217;s all-round performance 95 and 3 for 49 helped Sonnex beat Young Delhi by 20 runs in a division B match of DDCA league at Kotla 2 here today.

Batting first, Sonnex made 290 for six in the stipulated 40 overs. Gautam struck nine fours and four sixes. Abhijeet remained unbeaten on 77 which included six boundaries and two sixes.

In reply, Young Delhi were dismissed for 270 in 35.1 overs, Sanjay top-scoring with 57.

In a C division match at Kotla 1, Roop Nagar beat Mayapuri by six wickets. Mayapuri, put in to bat, were shot out for 102 in 28.1 overs, Vishop Bhatia taking four wickets for 24. Roop Nagar reached the target in 24 overs, for the loss of four wickets.

In another C division match at St Stephen8217;s grounds, OBC made 275 for five, with the help of Ashok Thakur 60 and Anil Arora 76 and then restricted Gemni to 194, to win by 81 runs.

Shafiq, Sukhwinder pilot IA to victory
Fine spin bowling by the Indian Airlines helped them beat All India Associate Banks, Bangalore in the 48th All India Sheesh Mahal Cricket Tournament in Lucknow, according to reports reaching here.

Chasing a victory target of 209 runs, the bankmen succumbed to the spin of S Sharma and Shafiq Khan who claimed three and two wickets giving away nine and 19 runs respectively. The bankmen were dismissed for 124 in 34.3 overs.

Batting first, Airlines scored 208 in the stipulated 45 overs. At one stage, they lost four wickets 81. Then a fifth wicket partnership between Shafiq Khan 59 and Sukhvinder Singh 46 yielded 102 runs. Shafiq hit four boundaries while Sukhvinder struck two.

D P Singh of the Bangalore team was the most successful bowler claiming four wickets.

Airlines will meet Bhargava Bhushan Press XI, Varanasi tomorrow.
