PUNE, Nov 8: Copping seems to be in trouble, these days. After a spate of dacoities, robberies and burglaries, it is time to walk away with the culprit!
Cocking a snook at the police, a gang spirited away an accused after attacking two police constables at Jambut village near Shirur on Friday night, according to a delayed report reaching here.
Dnyaneshwar Dhadge was arrested in connection with house-breaking cases. The constables were taking him to the village for investigating the cases. Seven persons travelling in a jeep accosted them at a road side hotel around 10.30 pm. They thrashed the constables and walked away with Dhadge.
In a swift action, the police have managed to arrest Shivaji Gajre, Mangesh Savant, and Shivaji Chore.
The others against who cases have been registered include Balu alias Shivaji Chore, Bhau Balu Gore, Ramdas Gawde, and Vitthal Gaikwad.
It may be recalled that recently 15 undertrials had managed to escape from police custody along with other undertrials while they were being driven back to the Yerwada Jail from the Shivajinagar court in a policevan. The culprits raised a false fire alarm and fled.
