NEW DELHI, November 3: Fine all-round performance by Delhi Under-19 cricketer Gautam Gambhir (139 and 6 for 8) and a strokeful 95 by Akshay Sawhney helped Modern School (Barakhamba Road) humble St Columba’s School by an innings and 145 runs to move into the semifinal of the third Bon Ton inter-school tournament, organised by Gyan Bharati School (Saket), at Modern School grounds.
Left-handed Gambhir struck 12 fours and two sixes in his knock while Sawhney hit 11 boundaries.
St Columba’s were dismissed twice for 85 in 29 overs and 183 in 36 overs in their two-day game. Modern School amassed 413 for nine in their only innings.
Besides Gautam and Akshay, Siddharth contributed 79 runs to Modern School’s total.
