
MUMBAI, April 13; The Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Commemoration Committee, a Mumbai-based non-political organisation, will celebrate Shivaji Jayanti on April 17 in two functions to be held at Gateway of India and Dadar8217;s Shivaji Park.
The highlight of the functions will be the performances of Maharashtra8217;s traditional folk art form, powada. Shahir Sheikh Jainu Chand and Shiv Chhatrapati Mandal, run largely by women artists, will present a programme titled Hi Ratra Shahiranchi at Shivaji Park at 6 pm. The celebrations have been jointly organised with the BMC. Manmohan Singh Bedi, former Mayor and the committee8217;s vice president said that several dignitaries including the governor, chief minister, mayor and municipal commissioner will grace the functions.
The programmes are open to all.
