The best friend you can have is another you. In life you have all kinds of friends 8211; those you like and those you don8217;t. It is difficult to find good friends who will stand the test of judgement. Eventually you settle for a compromise. Once you find such a friend it is necessary to make efforts to keep his friendship and nurture it till doomsday.
I believe if you follow my principles you will have a fruitful relation. Expressing yourself holds deep roots. Unless you tell your friend what you want, hate, like, dislike, love, care for, aim at, think about or feel about, your friend will not understand you. He may hide his emotions from you. Tell him if you felt hurt about something he said or did. You should never let your friend down in front of others in terms of manner and respect. This holds true for all times.
Listen to him and react to it with true enthusiasm. For example, if your friend is invited to dinner by the college beauty, he is obviously going to talk about it. Your duty is to feel happy for him that he is going to have a good time.
The policy of, 8220;You pay yours, I will pay for mine8221; is the best answer to problems related to money. At least you do not think about how much you have spent on your friend. I have seen money sparking fights between friends who share a common room at the hostel.
Among other things take time to talk to your friend about college, parents, weather, or anything under the sky, but talk. If you have been out of touch with a friend, don8217;t make it an excuse, call him or visit him now. A regular phone call can cement a friendship tighter. Last but not the least, never expect your friend to go out of the way to help you always. He is a human being too. He has responsibilities and duties. For example, he cannot go shopping with you if he has to present a seminar the next day. We have friends at college, at home, at the club, pen friends and many more different places. The one who strikes the harmonious note between all of them is the best.
A last advice to all 8211; you rarely get the friends you want, but you have to be content and make the best of it.
