VADODARA, Feb 16: Four people, including an executive engineer of the Vadodara District Panchayat, were suspended on Tuesday for alleged irregularities in the construction of a school building in Sayajipura.

The action follows an inquiry conducted by Quality Control team of the Roads and Buildings department, Gandhinagar.

Those suspended are executive engineer division 1 of Roads and Buildings Department, District Panchayat A K Patel, deputy engineer B B Goradia, additional engineer Pratik Shah and technical assistant Padaria.

District Development Officer DDO Anju Sharma told Express Newsline that the suspension orders for Patel, Goradia and Shah came late on Monday night from Gandhinagar.

It may be noted that the then Roads and Buildings Minister Savjibhai Korat during a surprise visit in October 1998 detected irregularities in the construction of the building and sent a Quality Control team for inspection.

Sharma said the technical assistant was suspended on the recommendation of the Panchayat8217;s Roads and Buildings department.

The four are also accused of not recording the measurement of walls properly, using sand and other inferior quality materials in construction.
