Four meet records sink on Day 1 as Charu sets tone

NEW DELHI, JULY 26: Charu Mishra set the tone for a record-breaking first day of the open aquatic meet, organised by the Directorate of Education (Sports) at the Punjabi Bagh Club pool here today.

Charu Mishra established a meet record in girls group 1, 100 metre freestyle, with a time of 1:07.90. The existing ark was 1:08.19. The three other meet records established on the opening day were all in medley relays, two in grils section and another in the boys.

DPS Mathura Road girls were credited with new meet records in 4x50m medlay while Modern School (Barakhamba Road) girls set a meet record in 4×50 metre Over 900 swimmers are participating in the four-day meet which was inaugurated by Narender Prasad, Principal Secretary, Education. Dy Directorate of Education (Sports), sat pal welcomed the guests.

Girls: 34x50m: medlay relay: 1. Delhi Public School, Mathura Road (2:53.62) NMR, Old Record (2:58.60); 2. Bal Bharati Public School, Pitampura (3:12.40) and 3. (3:37.00). Girls 1: 4x50m medlay relay: 1. Modern School, Barakhamba Road (2:50.63) NMR (2:51.64); 2. GHPS Vasant Vihar (2:53.19); 3. GCSSS Shaktri Nagar (3:20.33).

Men: 100m freestyle: 1. Satish Chand (1:01.66), 2. Sachin Kakkar (1:02.56); 3. Mohit Rathi (1:07.81).

Women: 100m freestyle: 1. Divya Chandershakhar (1:12.04); 2. Aprova (1:21.00); 3. Deepa Verma (1:31.68).

Men: 200m back stroke: 1. Sachin Kakkar (2:46.24), 2. Sandeep Tokan (2:38.98); 3. Mohit Rathi (3:04.44).

Boys 1: 200m back stroke: 1. Tanuja Arora (2:45.38), 2.Tejasvi Wadhuwa (2:47.48); 3. Rajeev Tokas (2:59.56).

Boys 2: 200m backstroke: 1. Varun Sethi (2:34.69), 2. Suraj Sarsen (2:50.51), 3. Dhruv Bata (3:10.51)

Bihar to vote in two phases on Nov 6 and 11; shortest Assembly polls in over two decades
