
DERA BASSI, Aug 9: Four out of a group of five Chandigarh youngsters have been arrested by Lalru police on charges of stealing automobile parts. The five have reportedly been operating as a gang for some time.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Dera Bassi Harbhajan Singh Bhullar, all of them belonged to well-to-do families. One of the accused, Vipin Sahani, is son of a retired senior officer in Life Insurance Corporation of India. Another accused, Tanveer Singh, is son of an industrialist in Dera Bassi. Sunil Sharma is son of a senior State Bank of India officer. Paramjeet Singh is a son of Sub-Divisional Officer in Public Health Department, Randeep Singh, who fled, is son of a Deputy Director in the Health Department.
Bhullar said that a case has been registered against the accused under Sections 379 and 411 in Police Station Lalru.
He further said that they used to steal automobile parts of damaged cars like tyres, seat covers and other accessories. He said that they were caught when they were on the run after stealing parts of a Honda City.
