
MUMBAI, MAY 21: To Cheque Victims Grievances Forum has engaged the services of advocates on a retainership basis and reasonable fees to help litigants fight cheque bouncing cases. The fee structure for fighting the cases is: for cases up to Rs 25,000, Rs 1,000 at the time of filing and a similar amount at the evidence stage; for cases up to Rs 2 lakh, Rs 1,500 at the filing stage and the evidence stage; for cases from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh, Rs 2000 at the filing and evidence stage, and for the rest it is Rs 2,500 at the filing and the evidence stage.
No extra fees will be charged by the advocates for attending court on each date or for typing out data or making an application. Fixed charges will be implemented for taking out summons or warrants. The notice fee will be only Rs 200 for sending notices on two addresses and only Rs 40 extra for each extra address.
Initially, the facility will be available only for three courts in the city, ie, court no 28 at Esplanade centre, court no 20 at Mazgaon Centreand court no 44 at Andheri. Victims of cheque bouncing whose office or banks fall within the jurisdiction of the following 20 police stations can avail of this facility: Dongri, Pydhonie, Kalachowki, JJ, Agripada, Nagpada, Byculla, Andheri, Jogeshwari, Oshiwara, MIDC, Vile Parle, Sakinaka, Sahar, Santacruz Airport, D N Nagar, Juhu, Meghwadi, L T Marg and Azad Maidan.
