A former Ranji cricketer was found dead at his residence in Allahabad on Saturday morning. Ram Babu Pal’s body was hanging from the ceiling of his room. Police said Pal’s “poor mental condition” and “humiliation by colleagues” drove him to suicide.

Pal (35), who had represented Uttar Pradesh in Ranji Trophy in the early 1990s and also played in the national Under-19 team with Sachin Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli and Rahul Dravid, was an employee of the State Bank of India.

His suicide note said: “I have been forced to take this step because my colleagues had been continuously humiliating me for my inability to operate the computer. They are responsible for my death.”
