
Chandigarh, Aug 30: Pandit Mohan Lal, former Home, Finance and Education minister of Punjab, died here today. He was 94.
A press note issued by the Principal of the GGDSD College stated that he died of cardiac failure. The deceased was also the president of the college, besides being the president of the Shri Sanatan Dharam Pratinidhi Sabha Punjab, Shri Sanatan Dharam Education Board, Shri SD Mahabir Dal.
Born at Fatehgarh Churian in Gurdapur on June 1, 1905, he grew up to be a lawyer and practised law from 1929 to 1956. He left law to plunge into full time politics, retiring from it in 1992 after holding a number of important ministerial portfolios. He was also a writer and a prominent educationist.
