MELBOURNE, October 12: Former Australian Test cricket captain Ian Johnson has died at the age of 80, the Australian Cricket Board ACB said today.
Johnson died in a Melbourne hospital on Friday after suffering from poor health for some time.Johnson was a member of the 1948 Australian side known as the invincibles, which was unbeaten on its tour of England. An off-spin bowler, he played 45 career Test matches for Australia between 1945 and 1957.
