
PANCHKULA, Sept 26: A week-long low calorie food carnival began at the Hotel North Park here today. The carnival is a joint venture of the VLCC and the North India Institute of Hotel Management NIIHM students.
Speaking on the occasion, the All India Director of VLCC, Dr Veena Jain said the main idea behind organising the was to establish that healthy food can be delicious as well as low on calorie and fat content. Dr Jain said that though people have become health conscious yet there is a need to create more awareness among the masses and by arranging such events, it helps to reach out to the people. She said that all the VLCC branches operating in the country follow the same principle of low calorie healthy and tasty food and are now specifically concentrating on quot;adolescent obesityquot;.
The vice-president of the Hotel North Park, Vijay Bahri was also present on the occasion.
A surprise lucky draw everyday would be the special attraction of the event; on October 3, the concluding day, a mega lucky dip would be held.
The Haryana Petroleum Dealers Association has decided to observe strike on October 1 if their demand of increasing transportation rent to Rs 1.50 per km/litre is not met. This was stated here today by Shamsher Singh Gogi, senior state vice-president of the association at the Aggarwal Bhawan in Sector 16. The president of the Panchkula Petroleum Dealers8217; Association, S.R. Singla, said that they were also demanding that the dealers should be issued licences in their name as they are otherwise harassed by petroleum companies. He added that the Variation Temperature Allowance should be allowed to the dealers.
