Choosing to read her reply to the BJP show cause notice at a huge public rally in this MP town, suspended BJP leader Uma Bharati asked Atal Behari Vajpayee and L K Advani to float a new political party with no room for ‘‘a pack of leaders who are not loyal, unprincipled and lack ideological moorings.’’ The BJP meets in New Delhi on Monday to decide her fate.

Appealing to Vajpayee not to remain mum and launch a party that will stick to its ideological core because ‘‘BJP as an experiment has failed’’, Bharati said: ‘‘You have helped the party grow, now it’s time to restore order by announcing a new one. Aise chup baithe rahoge to Mahabharat ho jayega, bolo saf bolo (There will be war if you remain silent, speak your mind).’’

BJP leaders Pramod Mahajan and Arun Jaitley continued to be the targets of her attack though she did not name them. She told the crowds that she debated about replying to the show cause notice and decided to do so after spending the night reworking it.

The rally venue was carefully chosen as the town lies in the constituency of former minister Gaurishankar Shejwar, who also faces disciplinary action. Bharati said the BJP as an ‘‘experiment has failed’’ and reminded the leadership of what Deendayal Upadhyay had said, ‘‘I will create a new Jan Sangh if it is found to be corrupt.’’

She asked Vajpayee and Advani to announce a new party. ‘‘I will wait for their reply,’’ she said to the cheering crowd. ‘‘The party will disintegrate again and again if values are not restored. I will prefer to die in Ayodhya than offer flowers at Jinnah’s mazaar.’’
