THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, FEBRUARY 3: Five records were bettered and Haryana, Kerala and Maharashtra fought for the overall positions in athletics on the third day of the 45th National School Games.

After 33 events, Haryana lead with 44 points followed by Maharashtra 41 and Kerala 40.

Three new records were set by Dinesh Kumar, Rajesh Kumar 14.73m in under-19 triple jump and Ramesh Kumar of Jat Senior High Secondary High School, Hissar Haryana. Harpal Singh Punjab, 55.70m in hammer throw and Jagbir Singh Gujarat, 4.30m in pole vault also improved existing marks. Haryana won five more golds and topped the medals tally with seven golds, two silvers and five bronze medals.
