FIR against KHNAM MLA for creating commotion

Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement KHNAM legislator Lambor Malngiang is in trouble. An FIR was registered against the legislator on Sunday night by one Nita Khongwir. Khongwir has alleged the MLA of threatening her for objecting to his presence at the residence of her tenant, who is a girl. Malngiang and his friends are reported to be frequent visitors at the tenant8217;s house.

According to Khongwir, Malngiang and his friends, who were inebriated, threatened the chowkidar when she sent the latter to the tenant8217;s house on Sunday night to ask them to stop creating a commotion. Khongwir asked the chowkidar to lock the gate and informed Laitumkhrah police. According to her version, when the legislator and his friends realised that the police have been informed, they broke open the lock and drove away in their vehicles. The police questioned the tenant.East Khasi Hills SP A R Mawthoh said the police would summon Malngaing to the police station for questioning. He, however, refused to say whether the police would take action on the FIR and arrest the legislator.

Laitumkhrah Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ian Swer said whether Malngiang will be arrested or not would be decided after a meeting with the SP. He refused to comment further and said his officers would answer any queries regarding this case.
