Finally, work at Vadsar flyover resumes

The stalled work for the flyover connecting Makarpura GIDC road and Vadsar has finally kicked off with the Western Railway giving a green signal for the construction over railway tracks.

According to sources, work at the Vadsar bridge was stalled as the Western Railway authorities did not get the kind of contractors they were expecting.

Senior officials said that tenders were invited three times, but the contractors were reluctant to take up the job.

The state government has sanctioned Rs 3 crore for the completion of the flyover project.

8220;We had approached the state government twice in the past and requested the officials to allocate funds, since this bridge would prove to be extremely beneficial for the industries in Makarpura. The officials have finally agreed to provide us Rs 3 crore for the construction of the bridge.8221;

Meanwhile, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation VMC received Rs 25 crore from the Centre as part of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission JNNURM.

The funds will be utilised for developing water supply system, sewerage and infrastructure development in the city.

Sources said that after receiving Rs 18.24 crore in the first phase, the VMC has got another boost with the Centre releasing more funds for the second phase.

They said that Rs 10.26 crore has been released for water supply, Rs 13.14 crore for sewerage and Rs 1.15 crore for infrastructural development.
