PUNE, June 8: Pune Municipal Commissioner Arun Bhatia has complained to Commissioner of Police K K Kashyap that the FIR regarding the alleged corruption of the Chief Secretary Arun Bongirwar had yet to be registered by the police.
Bhatia had lodged a police complaint against Bongirwar charging him with illegally approving contracts worth Rs two crore for road construction during his Bongirwar8217;s tenure as municipal commissioner. In a letter dated June 5, Bhatia has stated that the police had not yet registered the FIR on the pretext that they required additional information.
He has written to Kashyap that the reasoning was strange since the FIR is based upon three court judgements. The other strange8217; question in the letter from the police is that Bhatia was asked to state what sections of the law would apply to cover the offence.
Bhatia has asked Kashyap whether he Bhatia was supposed to give the requisite information when the offence can be registered under the relevant sections of the IPC and the Anti-Corruption Act. quot;Kindly let me know if you cannot locate relevant laws to cover the offence and I will then tell you the sections of law which are applicable in this case, quot; Bhatia has categorically stated to Kashyap.
The Municipal Commissioner has also urged that his letter should be registered as a complaint while seeking a 24-hour guard at his residence. Bhatia referred to police officer Kondhalkar8217;s alleged rude8217; behaviour while asking questions regarding other documents related to the FIR.
He complained that it was not necessary to disturb his Bhatia8217;s privacy at 7.30 a.m. when the household was resting. Bhatia requested Kashyap for a 24-hour guard at his residence and to ensure that any correspondence in this matter be sent to his office.
