  • Marseille area police prefect, Jean-Paul Proust, announced that retail alcohol sales would be banned from Friday afternoon until midnight Sunday ahead of The Netherlands-South Korea match in town on Saturday night. Bars must also close at 11 p.m.
  • French courts convicted four German and three English soccer fans for violence that marred the first week of the competition. The y get sentences ranging from two to four months.
  • Two other German fans were convicted for attacking a German television crew before their country8217;s match against the United States. They were to be deported.
  • Interior minister Jean-Pierre Chevenement signed an order on Tuesday to expel five English fans and a Tunisian. The six to be expelled were to first serve jail terms of two to three months, officials said.
  • More than 100 people remained jailed in Marseille after three nights of violence.
