8226; With reference to Tavleen Singh8217;s column, 8216;8216;Marxists begin to see the light, not Sonia8217;8217;, West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee deserves praise for initiating steps for the State8217;s economic revival, defying his associates in the Left. His views have come as a boost for the UPA government that was struggling to get the Left8217;s approval for its economic policies. In Kerala, another Left bastion, reforms have already started, with people asking for more. It is high time the Communists reviewed their policies and prepared to move away from the beaten path.

On another front, with reference to Coomi Kapoor8217;s 8216;8216;Inside Track8217;8217;, the propensity of Indian politicians, particularly Ministers in the Central and State Governments, to adorn the walls of their offices with photographs of their party leaders increases by the day. It is embarrassing to see political leaders revel in such ridiculous display of loyalty and flattery. As a policy, the government should stop this practice forthwith.

Whenever any Supreme Court ruling is not to its liking, the government either amends the Constitution or enacts a legislation to subvert the judgment. This is a dangerous trend. The judiciary is being misused by all and sundry. Politicians use it to throw a spanner in the works of rival parties. The decision of the highest court is always in the public interest, though it may go against parties8217; interests. But if such decisions are not implemented by the government, they lose their meaning.

It was indeed anti-party and undisciplined on the part of Khurana to attack his own party president just to please the RSS and VHP leadership. No sensible party can and should tolerate such unmindful behaviour of its members.
