CHANDIGARH, Nov 19: Following the failure of Zee TV’s managing director, besides the producer of Khoobsurat Rashmi Virmani, to appear before a City court despite the serving of summons, UT Civil Judge (Junior Division) K C Garg today ordered ex parte proceedings against them in a civil suit filed by a local model. The suit will now come up for recording of the ex-parte evidence on February 3, 1999.
City model, Naini Nanda chosen the "Model of the week" in September 1995 on Lakme Khoobsurat show telecast on Zee TV had earlier moved the court alleging the handing over of just one gift cheque instead of the promised four.
Seeking directions to the managing director, besides the producer, for sending the prizes announced in episode number 103, telecast on September 3, 1995, Nanda had stated that except for the Metro Shoes gift voucher, no other award was delivered to her. Even the legal notices, besides repeated requests had failed to evoke a response, her counsel had said.
The defendants had earlier announced a gift cheque for Rs 6,000 from Yardley of London, another cheque for Rs 5,001 from Sidha Herbal Shampoo, besides a cheque of Rs 5,000 from Dabur Vatika, she had added.
