Ex-minister quits BJP after ticket distribution

After the BJP declared its list of candidates for Himachal polls on Thursday, former minister and member of the Kullu royal family Karan Singh handed his resignation to BJP state president Jairam Thakur on Friday.

Singh is reported to be in touch with Congress leaders and speculation is rife that he has been assured a ticket to contest against Khimi Ram, the BJP sitting MLA from Banraj in Kullu.

Singh8217;s brother Maheshwar Singh, who is a party stalwart in the state and a former Lok Sabha MP, has been denied ticket by the BJP. He is also said to be upset with the party for tickets to newcomers like Goving Thakur, who lost in the last election.
