CHANDIGARH, Nov 11: It was an evening with a difference. City's senior citizens residing in the Sector-15 Old Age Home were guests at an evening eurhythmics `99 specially organised for them by The Patriots. The club, brainchild of a group of young people, had conceived the idea of organising an evening with the senior citizens. "We wanted to spend some time with them instead of just giving them gifts", said Himanshu Matta, the club president. Kids of various schools and college students had volunteered to present cultural items on the occasion for the entertainment of senior citizens, and students presented dance and fashion shows.To add to it, a best personality round was held. Senior citizens were called on the stage and asked to say or perform any item of their choice. Four senior citizens came forward. J.D. Chawla walked away with "Mr Old Personality" award for his poetic aptitude.The results of the other events held during the contest are as follows:In the fashion show, the first prize was bagged by Defence team of the Patriots, but the host team in order to encourage the young participants, presented the award to Satluj Public School, Sector 4, Panchkula. Seven-year-old dancing dame Manika Ahuja was awarded a cheque of Rs 251 for her solo performance which stole many a heart. In the dance contest, the first prize was won by Punjab Engineering College for their performance of a fusion of Indian and western dance forms. Dev Samaj College, Sector 36, bagged the second prize for a Hyderabadi dance performance. The Chief guest on the occasion was Central Excise Commissioner Indra Raj Sohni.
