Dahod Superintendent of Police Vipul Aggarwal said a team headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police M K Naik will now head for Ranapur in Jhabua district, where Manu Meda was arrested.

With the suspension of two police constables following Meda8217;s escape from the Garbada Sessions Court on September 23, the Dahod police had been conducting raids at all his hideouts. The Dahod police said Meda had been giving them a lot of trouble because of his repeated attempts to escape.

Police said that Meda is the most wanted criminal in Dahod district and was wanted in at least five cases of loot and murder in the district, and Jhabua in Madhya Pradesh.

Initially, Meda was kept at Dahod Jail, but he made an escape bid in which a policeman was severely injured. Although Meda was subsequently nabbed, police said he was always attempting escape. Sources said that police recovered a mobile from him while he was being transferred to Devgadh Baria sub-jail.

On September 23, Meda was brought from Devgadh Baria to Limkheda and later taken on a private bus going towards Madhya Pradesh. Meda and two other criminals were sent to Garbada with two constables and escaped from their custody, as per the complaint registered by the constables at the Gharbada police station.

Meanwhile, the two constables from whose custody Meda escaped in Garbada are under suspension. 8220;We are conducting a detailed inquiry into the matter,8221; Aggarwal said.
