MUMBAI, June 15: A Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation BMC official and the former additional municipal commissioner have floated an organisation to provide free educational help to the underprivileged class. Guardian Universal8217; will hold free tutorials for students from any school in the city belonging to standards VIII to Xth.

The BMC has sanctioned the premises of the secondary school at Babula Tank, near Kothari Hospital, C P Tank, for this purpose, said the general secretary, Ismail Khan, also an official of the BMC8217;s traffic department.

8220;This year we will restrict our classes for students between standards VIII to X, while next year, we will extend our classes till standard XII,8221; informed Khan, a pioneering force in setting up the organisation.

B M Ambhaikar, former additional commissioner and president of the organisation, said the project was presently being undertaken on a small scale. 8220;It is based on the concept of harmony. So we shall try to spread education specially in minority areas to promote communal osmosis.8221; They have not received any funds yet, and their expenses are being met by their own contributions. Teachers for the extra classes have already been selected. Besides providing classes for students, the organisation will also distribute free uniforms and notebooks to needy students. Khan said this project has three objectives: to provide education, medical help and work on the prevention of human rights violation.
