AHMEDABAD, April 22: Environmental protection will be a self-defeating exercise unless the groups working for that have comprehensive information about all sorts of environmental pollution and the factors causing them, the Centre for Environment Education scientist and noted educationist Dr Gopichand said.
He made these observations while participating in a discussion organised by the Action Group to celebrate Earth Day8217; here on Thursday.
quot;If we do not have comprehensive data and information about all sorts of pollution and their causes, we will never be able to substantiate our cause,quot; Gopichand said. He suggested that the groups working for protection of environment can pool their data from different scientific institutes set up by the Central government.
Gopichand also suggested that people engaged in environmental protection should also subscribe to best environmental journals brought out by the Royal Swedish Academy and the Tata Engineering Research Institute. He said scientific community as well as environmentalists should also work together for the goal.
