Casting off
Cinevista Communications, which has produced successful serials like Gul Gulshan Gulfam, Junoon and Saahil seems to have had a run of bad luck with their sitcom Choti Si Baat starring Anjan Srivastav and Himani Shivpuri in the lead. First, the show had an unsuccessul run of 11 episodes Sunday 11.00 am when it was pulled off, and later it bounced back on prime-time Monday 8.00 pm under a new name, Khatta Meetha, which again failed to rope in the viewers as well as sponsors. Now they have changed the cast to give it a new look. Anjan Srivastav has been replaced by Harish Patel and Kavita Kapoor walks in place of Himani Shivpuri. Let8217;s hope at least now their luck changes!
A Women8217;s Man
Saurabh Sen Gupta8217;s Chahat Aur Nafrat has been in the news all through its 104 episodes on Zee. First it was because lead actor Sharad Kapoor made it big in films with Dastak and walked out of the serial. He was replaced by cricketer Salil Ankola who made his debut on the small screen in the serial. The serial had one other unique distinction 8212; the hero had an affair with as many as five women. Initially, there were the women, Navni Parihar, Pallavi Joshi and Arundhati Ganorikar. We wouldn8217;t know about the viewers, but looks like director Sen Gupta was not satisfied with them. So he introduced Renuka Shahane in Ankola8217;s life. Then, when the soap was in the 100th episode and was going off at 104, he got another brain-wave and believe it or not, in the 101st. episode came the sixth woman, Pooja Seth. Thank heavens the serial has stopped at 104, otherwise at the rate he was going, Sen Gupta would have had all the actresses of Tellywood in Chahat Aur Nafrat!
Sony guides
After Zee TV came up with its own entertainment guide now its Sony Entertainment Television8217;s turn. They have launched two television guides called Aap Ki Choice in India and Telelife in the Gulf.
Aap Ki Choice, a monthly, contains listings of programmes on Sony as well as all leading channels; it is circulated to two lakh readers in six major cities 8212; Bombay, Bangalore, Delhi, Kanpur, Ahmedabad and Lucknow. Telelife feature highlights and schedules of programmes on Sony, a lot of gossip on the latest happenings of the television and film industry with some recipes amp; household tips. This one is for sale only in the Gulf.
One Minute
Tarun Chopra and Adib Contractor of Pieasso films, the guys behind shows like Gaata Rahe Mera Dil, Film Deewane and Ek Minute met with failure when they tried their hand at serials with Karm which was terminated abruptly due to low viewership. But now they are back in action again. Their game show Ek Minute was so popular that it had its second innings as Aur Ek Minute. Now we hear that the show goes back for the third time on Zee and this time its called Aur Ek Minute Part II. Also their musical show, Gaata Rahe Meta Dil hosted by husband-wife Kanwaljeet and Anuradha Patel is being reviewed for Zee again. And since they8217;re not the kind to give up, they are again coming up with a serial 8212; a whodunit. But they don8217;t want to talk about it now.
Coming on strong
Looks like Mukesh Shaktimaan Khanna has taken his role a bit too seriously. Recently an action sequence was being picturised between Khanna and Anant Jog where the latter is lying flat on the ground and Khanna had to dive on him. But while doing so Khanna actually landed with a thud on Jog who yelled in pain. The shoot had to be stopped and Jog was rushed to the hospital as three of his ribs were fractured and he has been advised bed rest.
