VADODARA, Nov 17: A team of experts from the Netherlands has begun a nine-day training programme on effective operation of the CT Scan machine for Radiologists from Vadodara, Surat and Ahmedabad at the Sir Sayaji General SSG Hospital.

Official sources said the SSG Hospital was chosen as part of the programme because a Rs 1.5-crore CT Scan machine was installed there recently as part of the hospital-upgrade plan initiated by the State Government with assistance from a Holland-based firm.

The team of experts, which began delivering the coaching from Monday, comprises a radiologist, a technician and para-medics and would conduct the programme till November 25.

All the medicos in the Radiology Department of the SSG hospital are taking part in the programme and the experts are providing guidance on effective operation of the advanced machine. The Dutch team threw light on the advanced CT scanning of body parts as is done in the West. The SSG doctors where shown how section-wise scanning of the body parts can be done effectively.

Hospital officials said the Dutch teams were appreciative of the work being put in by the doctors despite resource crunch. The series of lectures would also focus on proper maintenance of the sophisticated machines.
