Dinesh, Aparna upset

VIJAYAWADA, NOV 3: On a day of major upsets, T Dinesh of Andhra Pradesh, Aparna Balan of Kerala and Aditi Biswas of Karnataka, the top seeds in the mini boys, mini girls and sub-junior girls sections respectively fell by the wayside, even as top seeded Amar Mohite of Maharashtra had a smooth passage into the final of the sub-junior boys events of the limca 13th national badminton championships here tonight.

Unseeded Samrat Adhikeri of West Bengal prevailed over Dinesh 15-13, 15-0 in the pre-quarter-finals itself and went on to trounce fifth seeded Ajay Jayaram of Maharashtra 15-2, 15-5, in the quarter-finals in the mini boys event while Shilipi Kankane of Maharashtra drubbed Aparna Balan 11-9, 11-5 in the quarter-finals in the mini girls event.
