Princess Diana had denied having any plan to marry Dodi Fayed a few days before she was killed in a car crash in Paris ten years ago, a close friend of hers testified on Monday.
Annabel Goldsmith had telephoned the princess the day before she died after seeing photographs in newspapers of her and Dodi splashed all over. 8220;You8217;re not doing anything silly like getting married?8221; she had asked Diana.
Referring to speculations that Diana and Dodi were to marry, Goldsmith said at their inquest at London8217;s High Court that Diana might be having a wonderful time with him but her remark that she needed another marriage like 8220;a rash on her face8221; meant that she was not serious about it.
The 73-year-old-socialite added further that she would never forget those words as it was her last conversation with her before death.
Last week, the jurors were shown letters exchanged between Diana and Dodi shortly before their deaths. In one mail, beginning 8220;Darling Dodi8221;, she thanked him for 8220;bringing such joy into this chick8217;s life8221;.
The letters were released by Dodi8217;s father Mohamed Al Fayed, who claims that the couple were killed by the British secret service as they were about to get married. He also insists that Diana was pregnant with Dodi8217;s child.
Lady Annabel at the inquest also strongly denied the possibility of Diana being pregnant with Dodi8217;s child before death. Referring to her conversation with the Princess of Wales during the latter8217;s visit to her country home claimed there was no chance of any pregnancy.
8220;I would say impossible. There was a reason for that belief,8221; claimed Goldsmith.
