MUMBAI, JANUARY 30: Three State records were rewritten on the opening day of the first Milo TMG Inter-school and junior college athletics meet at Dadoji Konddeo Stadium, Thane. Dhiraj Mishra (Udayachal) smashed the 100m state record for boys under-10 with a timing of 15.1 secs.
Mrinalini Ghose (Gokuldham) clocked 15.7 in the girls under-10 100m, pipping Puja Sapre (Balmohan), who clocked the same time in the heats. Puja had the last laugh in the long jump, with a record leap of 3.77 m.

Patel nails SPG
A hurricane called Manish Patel blew away Shivaji Park Gymkhana’s hopes in the Purushottam Shield Cricket Tournament final at PJ Hindu Gymkhana on Sunday. Cruising along at 190-2, in reply to National Cricket Club’s first innings score of 305, SPG were done in by Patel’s deadly blows during an inspired spell of medium-pace bowling, that left SPG tottering at 207-7. At close SPG were 237-9, with Patel returning fine figures of 5-58 in 20 overs.
Southpaws Amit Pagnis (64: 134b, 8×4) and Sushant Manjrekar (71: 135b, 7×4, 2×6) had put SPG on course with a 111-run association. But Patel trapped Manjrekar leg before, triggering off the collapse.

Fine rally by Rajput
Rajput XI, down 1-2 at the interval, rallied splendidly to pip Khalsa Gymkhana 3-2 in the BHA Division I hockey league at Mahindra Stadium, on Sunday.
Gavin Vandrine gave Rajput the lead in the second minute. But Khalsa wrested the initiative through a brace by GD Pillay. Saby Noronha (58th) equalised and Rocky Fernandes (61st ) netted the match-winner for Rajput.
