Dera supporter immolates self

Gurjeet Singh, an ardent follower of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, immolated himself outside a gurdwara in a village here on Sunday.

The 24-year-old youth, who was married four months ago, poured petrol over his body and set himself ablaze, police said.

He died instantly, they said, adding that the incident happened in Bangi Nihal Singh Wala village.

Police said that the youth took the extreme step as he was apparently perturbed over certain remarks that his uncle made against the Dera chief.
