Demand to ban Code in Kerala

Protests are brewing in some parts of Kerala over the screening of the controversial film, The Da Vinci Code.

The film has not yet been released in Kottayam and Kozhikode, but in other districts of the state it is running to packed houses. In Thiruvanathapuram, where the film was released on June 2, a Christian organisation Spirit in Jesus today demanded a ban on the film, stating it was an 8216;8216;insult8217;8217; to Christ. The organisation submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan and Cultural Minister M A Baby seeking a ban on screening of the film.
